Council boosts public access to meetings

Apr 9, 2019 | 1:40 PM

More public access will be coming to civic meetings.

Council voted to start video taping public hearings and committee of the whole meetings at a tune of $6300 a year.

The idea was brought forward by Councillor Scott Anderson while Interior Health was giving a presentation on the Overdose Prevention Site at last council meeting on March 25.

The city already video records regular council meetings which are available for the public to view online .

Councillor Akbal Mund asked staff if there is a way to track how many people actually tune in and if the cost of the service is worth the numbers that it brings in.

Staff said that they will bring that information back at the next meeting.
