Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested By ERT

RCMP used the Emergency Response Team to take a suspect into custody in Enderby.

The suspect was accused of using a sawed-off shotgun in a robbery at an unnamed business on 27th Street n Vernon April 2nd.

The investigation led police to a home on George Street.

Regular police officers surrounded the area, and the specialized police team was brought in due to the high risk situation of the arrest.

“In responding to calls of this nature, our police officers want to ensure the safety of everyone involved including the suspect and other occupants of the residence,” says  Inspector Gord Stewart, Vernon North Okanagan Operations Officer. “After conducting a risk assessment, we determined the best course of action was to deploy the South East District Emergency Response Team to assist with the arrest of this individual.”

A 35 year old Enderby man was taken into custody and is facing charges including robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, pointing a firearm ansd possession of a firearm.

“Police executed a search warrant at the residence and seized numerous items including a loaded firearm. The investigation continues as police gather evidence and interview witnesses,” says Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer.
