Kamloops Woman Faces Attempted Car-Jacking…and More Charges

A Kamloops woman faces potential charges, including criminal impaired operation of a motor vehicle, after her reckless driving behaviour generated multiple police files in the Central Okanagan.

On April 6, 2019 just moments before 8:30 a.m., an enforcement officer was in the middle of a traffic stop with another vehicle along Highway 97 south of Peachland, when the driver of a red Ford F350 pickup truck allegedly passed the police vehicle northbound at a very high rate of speed.

Additional police officers responded to the area in an attempt to locate and intercept the suspect vehicle before it entered into West Kelowna. A short time later, police received a report of an attempted car-jacking near Renfrew Road in Peachland, which police believed involved the female driver of the red Ford pickup truck they were actively searching for.

RCMP officers in unmarked police vehicles re-acquired the suspect vehicle south of Peachland, now headed southbound towards Summerland. While travelling below the posted speed limit, the suspect unknowingly flagged one of those unmarked police cars to pass her.
