City To Appeal Firefighter Order

City To Appeal Firefighter Order

Apr 4, 2019 | 5:35 PM

The City of Vernon will appeal a ruling ordering it to reinstate a former fire captain who was fired for engaging in sexual activity while on duty at the fire hall.

The Arbitration Board earlier ruled the City’s action to fire Brent Bond and a dispatcher was excessive, and ordered Bond get his job back at a lower rank, and after a suspension.

The City has filed an application to the Labour Relations Board appealing the order.

“The City has filed an application to the Labour Relations Board appealing the order of the Arbitration Board to reinstate Mr. Bond to the workplace. The City has also filed an application to stay the implementation of the order pending the Labour Board’s review,” says a statement from Nick Nilsen, Communications & Grants Manager with the City of Vernon.
