Clean-up Begins On City Streets
City crews have started the job of cleaning up the sand and other road traction material on Vernon streets.
The Spring Sweeping Program will run seven days a week for the next four to six weeks.
“The program consists of daily road and sidewalk sweeping and flushing in low level areas, moving to higher levels. Two to three passes will be made to remove debris, dirt and dust, with flushing equipment making the final pass,” says City Communications manager Nick Nilsen.
Nilsen says signs will be put up in areas where the sweeping is taking place, and residents are encouraged to remove vehicles from roadways during this time to allow equipment to clean the entire roadway.
