Federal Government announces funding for Okanagan Indian Band Crime Prevention
The Federal Government announced Thursday that they will be giving out $1.17 million to the Okanagan Indian Band to help them develop a youth violent crime prevention project.
The funding disbursement is just a portion of the $94 million the Federal Government says they are going to invest in over five years to create innovative crime prevention programs.
Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Ralph Goodale was on hand to make the announcement at the Okanagan Indian Band Meeting Hall . He says that when it comes to reducing violent crime, prevention is key .
