Crown issues stay against man accused of sexual assault
The Crown has issued a stay of proceedings against a man accused of sexually assaulting a disabled woman outside of an Armstrong church in 2014.
Joseph Vance Caron, now 50 years old, was previously convicted of sexual assault back in May 2015, but was granted a retrial by the B.C Court of Appeal in June 2018.
The new trial began last week, but had to be postponed a few days in after the alleged victim was not able to respond to questions from the defence lawyer under cross examination due to anxiety issues.
The judge ordered the case adjourned until today to allow the woman time to recover and see a doctor, if neccessary.
