Highway Crash Claims Life

One person has died in a collision south of Salmon Arm.

RCMP say the crash occurred around 2:30 pm Monday near Hudson Road.

“Upon arrival it was determined that a commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle collided head-on,” says Cpl. Mike Halskov.

Police originally said two people in the passenger vehicle had died but later said only one person was killed.

“Apologies for the initial erroneous information – these type of events are very fluid and occasionally information is incorrectly relayed,” said Halskov.

Halskov says the cause of the collision is under investigation and nothing has been ruled out at this early stage.

At last report, both lanes of the highway are closed to traffic and there is a detour in place.

Trans Canada East Traffic Services Revelstoke, South East District Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, the BC Coroners’ Service and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement service are investigating.
