Highway Reopens

Highway 97 has reopened to traffic north of Summerland, just over a month after a rockslide closed it down.

The slide came down Jan. 31, and initially the road stayed open, but more slope activity and rock fall led to a complete closure on Feb 2nd.

Detour routes were later put in place

The southbound slow lane, which is closest to the slope above the highway, will remain closed until further notice to allow ministry staff to monitor the slope for any new movement.
