New Coldstream Town Homes A Step Closer

New Coldstream Town Homes A Step Closer

Mar 1, 2019 | 2:41 PM

It just needs a final stamp of approval.

Coldstream council has given third reading to a rezoning bylaw that will allow a new housing development on land next to the North Okanagan Regional District offices on Aberdeen Road.

But there are conditions.

Mayor Jim Garlick says council wants a restrictive covenant in place to limit the height of the proposed town houses, from three storeys to two, a buffer between existing residences and the new development and screening of mechanical equipment.

Both the covenant and final reading of the rezoning, from commercial to residential (C6 to R3), will be returning to council.

Trintec Enterprises, a development company, has plans for over 60 town homes on the site.

Staff say that because the development is next to Highway 6, it also requires approval by the Ministry of Transportation.
