Former Fire Chief Sues City, Says Report

Feb 20, 2019 | 3:00 PM

The City of Vernon is not commenting on a report it’s being sued by its former fire chief.

Global News says Keith Green has filed a lawsuit in BC Supreme Court, claiming he was fired without cause or notice and the City didn’t offer to accommodate his disability.

Green says he suffered a work-related psychological disability in 2016 and stopped working.

Green wanted to return to the job two years later, but says the City terminated him and promoted interim chief David Lind to the position.

City Communications manager Nick Nilsen was asked if the City had any comment on the report.

“The City has no comment at this time, particularly as we have not yet been served with a copy of this claim,” said Nilsen in an email to Beach Radio News.
