Tourism tax revenue reaching record high
Hotel tax revenue is expected to reach a record high.
That’s according to the City of Vernon’s economic development officer who says that while numbers for December are yet to be released, hotel tax revenue could exceed $1 million in 2018 which would be a monumental first for the city.
“Overall we are fairly flat but you will see our MRDT revenue for the first time will surpass $1 million in 2018,” said Poole at Monday’s city council meeting.
Poole admits that the record revenue has a lot to do with the spike in the MRTD, otherwise known as the hotel tax for the region.
