Cumming Spends Less Than Runner-Up To Win Mayor’s Race

New Vernon Mayor Victor Cumming spent $9,607 to get elected last year, about $4,000 less than the runner-up in the race.

The campaign figures for all the 2018 municipal election candidates were released by Elections BC today.

Cumming received $9,490 in campaign contributions, the largest coming from Brian Guy at $1,200 and former mayor and physician Rob Sawatzky with $1,100.

Darrin Taylor, who finished second in the mayor’s race, spent $13,672 on his campaign, and had contributions of $14,195, including his biggest backers, five donors of $1,200 (Heather Taylor, Donald Milljour, Hassan Khosrowshahi, Bradley Pelletier and Kevin Layden.)
