Fund Created For Fire-Ravaged Family

Feb 4, 2019 | 5:05 PM

A Go Fund Me account has been started for a Coldstream family left homeless by a fire.

Members of the McMillan family had to flee their burning home on Kalamalka Lake Road across from Creekside Park this morning, which gutted the house and destroyed all of the family’s possessions.

The fund was created by a neighbor of the burned out family.

“This beautiful family, our neighbours, friends and wonderful members of our community – Paul, Brittany, Marlee, Jonah and baby Lila McMillan – lost their home in a terrible fire this morning,” says Belinda Rose Innes in the posting on GoFundMe. “They all got out safely, but have lost everything. Those of you who know them know that these guys would give their clothes off their backs for anyone who asked – let’s do the same for them. Thankfully the whole family got out safely, but they need all the help we can give them – emotionally and to replace what can be replaced in terms of material stuff. Please share with everyone you know who knows them. They are such a big part of our community and deserve all our love and support. Thank you.”

Fire chief Dave Sturgeon says the fire started at the rear of the house, with the cause under investigation but not considered suspicious.
