Rebates To Replace Outdated Woodstoves

Rebates To Replace Outdated Woodstoves

Jan 24, 2019 | 2:46 PM

Coldstream and Lumby residents can apply for provincial funding to exchange their old smoky woodstove for a cleaner burning model.

Applicants can get $250 for changing to a cleaner burning stove, and $400 for converting to an electric heat pump, gas, propane or pellet fueled stove.

Coldstream/Lumby Woodstove Exchange Program Administrator Dian Wirth says residents of Coldstream can also get additional rebates up to $400, while the Village of Lumby will offer matching rebates of $250 for the first four residents who qualify.

“Old smokey stoves/inserts must be destroyed and recycled to be eligible for the rebates. Rebates are limited and are available on a first come first served basis,” says Wirth.

Since 2008, B.C. communities have received more than $3 million through the Provincial Wood Stove Exchange Program, helping replace almost 8,000 old stoves with cleaner-burning options.
