Director Calls For More Recycling Sites

A Regional District of North Okanagan director is calling for more sites in Vernon for residents to drop-off their recycling.

Akbal Mund led a motion to get the regional board to send a letter to Recycle BC to add Chaser’s Bottle Depot to the list of allocated sites, along with the existing ones at Interior Freight and Bottle, and Venture Training.

Mund (pictured) says with the recent closure of RDNO facilities in the outlying areas, it important that people have as much access to recycling depots as possible.

“I was taking in some bottles to Chasers, and Keith Chase was saying he’s getting a lot more people coming down there wanting to drop off recycling. And he can’t take them all. You can only have two sites within the area, and those two have already been allocated. So I moved a motion to have another location, namely Chaser’s, to be a possible pick up site for recyclables,” Mund tells Beach Radio News

Mund says the last thing they want is for people to stop recycling just because it becomes a hassle to take them in.
