Okanagan Orchards: How Do You Like Them Apples

Once again BC proves the Okanagan is the apple of judges eyes when it gets right down to it.

Some tasty Okanagan apples dominated at this year’s National Apple Competition.

Davison Orchards in Vernon, topped the entries for their Aurora Golden Gala, netting the prestigious Champion New Varieties- Reserve.

Davison’s also claimed top spot for Gala apples in the Commercial Varieties as well as Golden Delicious category and third in Honeycrisp apples.

The Red Delicious winner went to Gutknecht Orchards of Vernon.

Some other Okanagan orchards that placed very respectable included Lakhbir and Balbir Sangha of  Kelowna in the Spartan category and placing second in Ambrosia.

Windmill Orchards in Summerland with two entries in the Most Unusual Shaped Apple as well as getting a second in the Golden Delicious division and third in Ambrosia.

Vernon and area orchards are represented by the BCFGA.
