JCI Vernon Looking for Non-Profits, Charities For Gift Fair

Oct 23, 2018 | 10:36 AM

An annual event leading up to the holiday season is looking for community support.

JCI Vernon will host its 9th annual Alternative Gift Fair Saturday November 24 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Schubert Centre at 3505 30th Avenue in Vernon.

Organizers are inviting local not-for-profit organizations and charities to apply to take part.

“The fair will offer holiday shoppers an easy way to buy gifts of charitable donations and to support their favorites causes,” says Jason Keis, event co-chair. “Each participating organization offers a variety of meaningful “gifts of help” in price ranges that start as low as $10. Shoppers will receive gift certificates and inserts that identify their donations.”

Keis says the Gift Fair has raised thousands for local and international organizations the past four years.

“Participating organizations must send a representative to the fair, where they are able to promote their current and upcoming projects.”

Keis notes the Gift Fair is on the same day as the Vernon Christmas Light-Up, so people can stop by the Schubert Centre to do some holiday gift shopping for a good cause.

Application forms are available through JCI Vernon at jcialternativegiftfair@gmail.com.

The deadline for applications is 5 pm Friday Nov. 2.

JCI Vernon is a group of young professionals and entrepreneurs committed to creating positive change in the community, and is affiliated with JCI Canada and Junior Chamber International, with over 200,000 members in 100 countries.
