A former Vernon resident has been found guilty of second degree murder in Vancouver.
A jury deliberated for three days before reaching a verdict against William Schneider.
The remains of 30 year old Natsumi Kogawa were found in a suitcase on the grounds of a Vancouver mansion in 2016.
Schneider was arrested a short time later at a homeless camp in Vernon.
Schneider faces a life sentence for the murder with parole eligibility to be determined.

A man arrested in Vernon after the death of a Japanese student in Vancouver has changed his plea.
William Schneider, a former Vernon resident, entered a guilty plea Monday to interfering with human remains or offering an indignity to a human body.
That charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
A jury could still find him guilty of second-degree murder.
