Business Slides Into Arena

One of the private businesses has moved into in the new Kal Tire North Arena.

Recreation Services Director Doug Ross says The Training House has opened for business.

“Pursuit of Excellence, we’re just waiting for one more exhaust fan to be installed, and they they’ll be moving into their space. But they’re certainly  already on the ice with their training.”

When the tenants were announced back in May, the Training House owners, said it would be a high quality training centre.

“With the opening of the Training House, Vernon will now be able to compete with larger cities by offering a substantial benefit to serious athletes who want to stay, play and train in a family friendly destination while having access to high quality, science driven programming,” said Rhonda Catt, owner.

Commercial space was included in the new building to generate extra user visits and revenue through the lease and use of the ice.

The new Kal Tire North arena has been opened for a month — but the finishing touches continue to be put on the building.

Doug Ross says a number of people have contacted them about potential trade shows in the facilities.

“We have one set of dry floor already for Kal Tire Place, and we’re actually budgeting for a second floor for Kal Tire North in the 2019 budget.”

Ross says a new dry floor would cost over 100-thousand dollars ($91,000 US), but he feels it would be a good investment, considering the trade shows it could help attract.
