Schools Funding Doesn’t Add Up, Says VTA
The numbers don’t add up to more new teachers in the province this year, according to the president of the Vernon Teachers Association.
B-C’s education minister says school districts have had a $580-million funding boost to hire up to 37-hundred new teachers and some educational assistants.
But VTA boss Lisa Laboucane says that money was announced a year ago.
“We’re not seeing an increase in funding so our schools are still short, our teachers are still purchasing resources out of their own pockets,” says Laboucane.
