‘Sheep Thrills’ and Fun At IPE

You could have some ‘Sheep Thrills’ in Armstrong this week.

That’s the theme of the 119th annual Interior Provincial Exhibition which kicks off today — with rides, agricultural shows and the rodeo.

The five day event wraps up Sunday.

There are new events and shows, says General Manager Yvonne Paulson, including a flying trapeze act from Quebec.

“They come all the way from Montreal, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them haven’t trained with the Cirque Du Soleil group, so we’re really looking forward to those top notch athletes. They’re going to be 120 feet up in the air g doing their aerial and trapeze acts,” Paulson told Beach Radio News.”

Although some rain is forecast, Paulson calls the weather “ideal” and much better than last year’s scorching temperatures.

On this year’s theme, Paulson says, “We are honouring the sheep division this year. We’ve got lots of fun activities. We’ve got ‘Sheep Shots,’ where you can get your photo with a baby lamb that you can send out on social media to all your friends and family.”

She says there are also sheep beads for the bead trail bracelet.

There is also a new and improved top chef competition with adult and kids’ teams.

“They’ll be using food that is sourced locally in the North Okanagan.”

The rodeo is back and starts each night at 7 pm.
