RDNO Parks Get Trail Upgrades

RDNO Parks Get Trail Upgrades

Aug 20, 2018 | 10:33 AM

Three RDNO parks are in for trail upgrades over the next few weeks.

Swan Lake Park, BX Ranch Dog Park and Mutrie Dog Park will have wood chips or compost put down to improve surfacing and comfort for users and dog owners.

Swan Lake Nature Reserve will have wood chips from ground tree limbs and brush at the district’s recycling depot laid down to help control dust, mud and flooding.

That material is only used in parks where dogs are not permitted.

Compost from yard and garden waste collected at the facility will be put down on the Mutrie trails and entrance to supplement compost put down last year.

The material, called rdno-grow, will be added to BX Ranch perimeter trail and entrance as well.

It should help to control mud and dust at both parks.

The compost is also free to the public at the recycling depot.

Users will find all three parks closed for public use while trucks and equipment are spreading wood chips and compost.

The RDNO is asking  park users to abide by posted closure signs to avoid any conflict with heavy equipment.

It will be providing further information as the project progresses.
