Solidarity Rallies Planned For Picket LInes

Striking casino workers are inviting the public and other union members to take part in solidarity picket events at the four sites tomorrow .

The 675 BCGEU members are into the third week of their strike against Gateway Casinos with mediated talks set for the next three days.

The events, which will be staggered through the day, will start in Kamloops at noon, followed by Lake City Casino in Vernon at 3 pm and at Kelowna’s Playtime Casino at 5:30 pm.

“We’re calling on union and community members throughout the Thompson Okanagan region to support these casino workers on strike for a living wage,” says BCGEU Executive Vice President Doug Kinna. “Union members everywhere need to help send a message: wealthy employers, like Gateway Casinos, have short-changed workers for too long – our members deserve their fair share in the company’s success.”

12 pm – Cascades Casino Kamloops – 1555 Versatile Drive
3 pm – Lake City Casino Vernon – 4900 Anderson Way
5:30 pm – Playtime Casino Kelowna – 1300 Water Street
8 pm – Cascades Casino Penticton – 201 – 553 Vees Drive
