Update: 10:30 am

No word yet on the cause of a fire in a mobile home park in Lumby.

One unit at the Valleyview Park at 446 Mabel Lake Road was fully engulfed when chief Tony Clayton and his crews arrived.

“With the one trailer, we saw a lot of flames and a lot of smoke, and it was already starting a second trailer,” Clayton tells Kiss FM.

Clayton says one mobile home is a compete write off, while two others were damaged.

“The second has extensive damage, and a third trailer had minor to major damage.”

The fire chief says it’s not known if anyone was home at the time, but he was not aware of any injuries.

The cause is under investigation.

Fire departments from Coldstream, Lavington and the BX assisted at the scene.

“We have manpower and tenders, plus we have a private water tender who is watching the bush for fires and hot spots,” adds Clayton.

Hopewell told us more from the scene:

“I’m pretty sure everyone is uninjured. It is not an interface fire and does not seem to be spreading. I did see a lot of trucks with three and four guys racing out to that plume of smoke though. There are many people in this town ready to act when necessary. It’s really good to see.”
