Carrs Landing Ditch Fire Investigation

Jul 7, 2017 | 8:11 AM

RCMP fire investigators are working hard to determine the cause of  a fire in Lake Country early Monday morning in the Carrs Landing area.

Lake Country Volunteer firefighters were called about 1 am July 3rd to the 12700 block of Carrs Landing Road after a resident smelled smoke and spotted a fire.

He grabbed tools to fight the fire while waiting for emergency crews to get there.
Fire fighters worked quickly to build fire guards and get the blaze under control, before it spread into the dry forest or nearby homes.
RCMP Corporal Jesse O’Donaghey.says fire investigators with both the fire department and the RCMP have assessed the scene, less than a hectare in size.

Police believe that the fire quickly started in the ditch parallel to the east side of the roadway.

RCMP have seized evidence from the scene, which suggest that the fire may have been human caused.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that may be of assistance to police, is asked to contact the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288.
