Lake Country Fire Rescue Busy Night

Jul 3, 2017 | 11:24 AM

Early Sunday evening Lake Country Fire Dept. responded to what initially appeared to be a brush fire and when they came on the scene discovered an office at the gravel pit and a vehicle on fire.

Captain Steve Windsor told KISS-FM News they attacked the fire and knocked it down while also requesting the BC Wild Fire to come in and have an aerial view in case any flare ups were visible in the immediate area.

The clean-up was performed by the Lake Country Fire Dept as the fire became their jurisdictional responsibility.

Captain Windsor said the night was not over, as they responded to a half acre fire at about 3 in the morning.

They handled this relatively quickly, but there was the distinct possibility of a serious fire. Chief Windsor believes it to be started from perhaps a careless cigarette as there was no lightning in the area at all that night.

The Lake Country Fire Dept. continue their investigation.
