Neighbor Testifies at Manslaughter Trial
A North Okanagan manslaughter trial has been adjourned until the fall.
Logan Scott is charged with the manslaughter of 27 year old Jillian McKinty at her home in Armstrong in November 2013.
Jody North lived upstairs from McKinty on Wolfenden Terrace.
North says she heard McKinty’s twin boys trying to wake their mom up in the morning of Nov. 27, 2013, and starting to panic when she didn’t respond.
“I heard them saying, ‘Mommy wake up. We’ve got to go (to school),'” North testified.
North says she went downstairs and found McKinty laying on her bed, and was cold to the touch, later pronounced dead.
“She had a blue tint around her lip. I looked around for any drugs or a pill bottle.”
North then took the boys up to her home to be cared for, and called 9-1-1.
A pathologist says she died of asphyxiation.
The trial before BC Supreme Court judge Arne Silverman, will resume in September in Kelowna.
