Vernon Canada Day More Than Fireworks

Jun 27, 2017 | 8:40 AM

It won’t be just fireworks you’ll see in the sky above Kin Beach on Canada Day.

Okanagan Skydive has been added to the show.

Head of the Canada Day Society, David Frost says members will attempt to form a 150 above the beach just before the show.

“It’ll be pretty exciting, pretty impressive I think. It’ll be definitely something that hasn’t been done before.”

Vernon Yacht Club and Innerspace Water Sports divers are still on board to help to clean up the lake from fireworks debris.

The city yesterday confirmed Lakeshore Road will be closed from Tronson to 2683 Lakeshore from 8:30 to 11:30 pm.

Meanwhile, the Rise Golf Club is offering its 18th hole for viewing the fireworks.

You just need to contact the club to make arrangements.

The Society does need some extra cash for the Polson Park portion of rhe day.

David Frost figures they could use about another 10 grand.

“Yeah, you bet. We set up a Go Fund Me page just to help with some of the daytime activities in the park. Just trying to keep that show as full and action-packed as possible.”

Frost says more volunteers are needed as well and anyone interested can contact the society through its Facebook page.
