Armstrong Remind City Of Need For Flood Control

Jun 27, 2017 | 9:54 AM

The City of Armstrong is being reminded that something has to be done to make sure flooding that occurred this year won’t happen next year.

Flooding by Meighan Creek in early May affected several residents and businesses.

Mayor Chris Pieper says a couple of letters from residents to Council stressed that something has to be done.

“And we’re working on that. We’re trying to get meetings through our MP and M-L-A but as you know the political situation in Victoria still isn’t too stable.”

Vegetation and sediment build up is getting some of the blame for plugging up the creek.

Pieper says the city will need provincial approval and help.

“Flood control of some sort. Whether It’s dredging or whatever it is we can’t really have again what happened this year.”

The Mayor whatever it is, has to be done before next spring.
