Judge Says Coz Walks: For Now
The judge presiding over the Bill Cosby sexual assault trial has declared a mistrial today after jurors reported being hopelessly deadlocked.
The panel, five women and seven men, began deliberations Monday evening. The exhausted jurors had been deliberating, sometimes for as much as 12 hours a day.
The mistrial, which of course Mr. Cosby’s lawyers had supported, means that prosecutors will need to decide whether to retry Cosby on the charges at a later date. Fox News has reported the DA says there will be a retrial.
Many believe this will be the end of the comedian’s career on stage or in public appearances and he will go down in history as a person who took advantage of his celebrity status, whether he was found guilty or not.
After the decision in perhaps the highest profile celebrity trial since the Simpson case, the jurors in the Bill Cosby case are experiencing some measure of that pressure.
