Council Pay & Expenses Decline

Just over $233,000 was spent on Vernon council members last year.

The amount, $233, 081, includes their pay for council and any committees ($215,518) , plus expenses ($17,562) .

The total was about one thousand dollars less than 2015 ($234,808).

Mayor Akbal Mund was paid $71,228, and had $3,953 in expenses.

The next highest was councillor Juliette Cunningham who’s total was $30,244, which was pay of $26,927, plus $3,316 in expenses.

Catherine Lord was next with base pay of $23,045 plus $5,399 in expenses, for a total of $28,445.

Council members get base pay from the city plus get paid for meetings they attend such as the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee and the Regional District of North Okangan board.
