Seedless Avocado?

Jun 8, 2017 | 6:33 AM

“Uhh, our avocado is broken.” The words used to describe what’s going on here, by the person who posted the photos of an avocado with no seed.

In an internet world obsessed with pictures of avocado on toast, this is an interesting twist. Some people are calling this a ‘boneless’ avocado, while others are impressed to find that avocado is technically a fruit. The party poopers are saying this is potentially a fake photo and the original poster simply cut off “two cheeks” to create the illusion.

Could seedless avocados be a thing? I mean, it works for watermelons.

I love avocados as much as the next person, but I just can’t eat them on their own – they MUST be eaten in conjunction with other flavours. So, my famous guacamole recipe:

Shawn’s Guacamole (passed down 7 generations)

Ingredients:

3 ripe avocados

1 ripe roma tomato

3-4 green onions

3 cloves garlic

Juice of 1 lime (unless you get a ‘dry’ one, then use two)

1/2 hand full of fresh cilantro (this is a scientific measure, so ensure it’s precise)

salt – to taste

Directions:

Pit and peel the avocados, coarsely chop the rest of the ingredients and toss them all in a food processor (I use the one we have in the kitchen) Add salt as you blend the ingredients.

Once mixed, taste with a spoon. Tasting with a spoon is important, though I’m sure a fork will garner similar results. The thing to remember is that tasting your guacamole on a tortilla chip will skew the results, and you will not be able to tell if the salt is just right – adjust as necessary.

Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.

Serve with your favourite tortilla chip, or other dip carrier.
