Spallumcheen Approves Full Time Deputy Fire Chief Position

pallumcheen Council has given the nod to hiring a full time deputy fire chief for the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Fire Department.

Mayor Janice Brown says the position was approved at the same time it was decided to make the Chief’s position full-time.

“So we’ve known pretty much all along. We have money in the budget for the 2nd person. It was just a matter of getting our new fire chief settled into knowing what kind of job description he actually wanted from a deputy fire chief.”

Mayor Brown says when it comes down to it, the region is growing and proper protection is needed.

“You know, like everything, there’s just more work involved in doing business so that we keep ourselves safe and out of liabilities way.”

She’s hoping the position can be filled in July.
