Update: Okanagan Lake Up Slightly, Kal Lake Down, New Alert Issued

An evacuation alert has been issued by the District of Lake Country for the following properties due to localized flooding: 15770 Oyama Road, 15750 Oyama Road, and 15730 Oyama Road.

“Residents in these affected areas should be prepared to leave their homes on short notice should conditions along the waterfront change,” says the Central Okanagan Emergency Program.

The level of Okanagan Lake was up 7 millimetres from Tuesday.

Environment Canada says the lake is at 343.24 metres.

Kalamalka Lake continues to trend downward over the past few days, but remains high at 392.43 metres.

Emergency officials are still expressing concern about the upcoming weather forecast.

Rain is expected Thursday with gusty wind.

There is also a chance of showers Saturday and Sunday.

“Residents may see lake levels and creek flows increase,” says the Central Okanagan Emergency program.

All evacuation alerts and orders remain in effect, and residents in those areas should be prepared to leave on short notice if conditions change and there is a threat to public safety.

Residents on both sides of Lakeshore Road (from 2548 to 2688 Lakeshore Road) and 6999 Cummins Road in Vernon remain on evacuation alert.

The City says sand and sandbags are being replenished twice a day at five other established sites for Vernon residents.

Corner of Okanagan Ave and Okanagan Landing Rd (across from Marshall Fields)

Okanagan Hills Blvd and Bella Vista Rd. intersection (entrance to the Rise community)

2605 Lakeshore Road

The City requests that Lakeshore Road be used for local traffic only to allow crews and residents to access properties.
