The Hamlets Set For August Opening
Vernon`s newest assisted living senior`s complex should be move-in ready mid to late August.
The Hamlets on 29th Avenue will have about 100 residential care and 48 assisted living beds.
H & H Total Care Chief Operating Officer Hendrik Van Ryk says the care beds will be opened first.
“Just because our push is to get the care beds open to relieve the pressure, particularly in the
hospital. There`s a lot of folks there waiting to get out of hospital into the community.”
Interior Health is handling referral for the care beds and those could be full by the end of August.
It has a partnership in funding with H & H and will be looking at the best patients to place there.
Van Ryk says there has been strong interest in the rental assisted living suites.
“I think we`re probably in the neighbourhood of about 20 or 25 per cent of the units have been spoken for on the assisted living suites, so that`s a good sign.”
He says most of the interest has been in corner suites.
No deposits have been taken yet.
Van Ryk says he expects the complex to fill up in the fall.
So far, he`s been hearing a lot of positive comments.
“Generally, people have been very positive and saying they`re looking forward to it, where it`s about time, some of the comments we`ve had from people passing by our site. So, generally it`s been very well received.”
About 125 employees will be hired for the complex.
