Weaver Disappointed In Trump On Climate Decision
BC Green Party leader Andrew Weaver isn’t impressed with the decision by U-S President Donald Trump to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Weaver says the signing of the Paris accord was an historic achievement, where the world recognized a responsibility to the next generation to take action on climate change.
He says he’s very disappointed but encouraged by what he calls the bold actions taken by California, Washington, Oregon and other states towards meeting their climate targets.
Weaver says he believes the election results here results signal that the people of B.C. are ready to be leaders on this issue again.
He says “We have an incredible opportunity to demonstrate that climate action is an economic opportunity. The B.C. Green Caucus will work hard to ensure that B.C. meets our climate targets while capitalizing on the vast opportunities that come along with transitioning to the low-carbon economy.”
