Jun 1, 2017 | 12:27 PM

As we start the month of June, officials are saying it could be weeks before lake levels finally peak.

Environment Canada says Okanagan Lake is up 2 centimetres from Wednesday to 343.17 m.

Officials say it could rise another 8 cm’s before cresting.

The region was fortunate to escape the full brunt of the potential storm forecast last night, but there are showers and possible thunderstorms in the forecast for today.

The levels on Kalamalka Lake in Coldstream, are down about a half centimetre from Wednesday, according to federal data.

More residents of the Okanagan Indian Band have been issued evacuation orders.

About a dozen beach front lots on Jack Road were ordered to leave their homes immediately Wednesday night on an order from the Band’s emergency operations centre.

Evacuees are asked to register at the Reception Centre by calling at 250-215-1789
