Bike to Work Week Rolls Out

Some people will be using pedal-power to get around this week.

The annual bike to work and school week is underway.

The events include morning celebration stations at Harwood school today, and at Ellison school Tuesday.

There is also a celebration station at Sun Country Cycle Wednesday morning, and a wrap up event at Spirit Square Friday afternoon.

City of Vernon coordinator Jill Williamson says the city is solidly behind becoming more bike-friendly.

“The City is investing in creating a much more expansive network for biking and walking around the city, to try to encourage a more active and healthy lifestyle.”
There’s a number of events to encourage people to give it a try.

“What the past has shown, if we can get people out there biking once, they’re more likely to do it again, so we’re really encouraging new bikers to get out and try it.”
