New Directors For Winter Carnival

The Vernon Winter Carnival society is moving forward with planning for its 58th annual event next year.

The non profit group elected new directors at its AGM Tuesday night.

Deb White is back as the chairperson, while Martin von Holst is vice chair, Pat Loehndorf is treasurer and secretary is Corinne Van de Crommenacker.

The directors are Mike Smallenberg, Dave Deshane, Colleen Gwenyth Heater, Brian Langner, June Rigby, Ruth Hoyte, Todd Millar, Laurell Cornell, Annette Timm, Roel Van de Crommenacker and Paul Cousins.

“We are fortunate to have such a great community where people are so willing to be involved,” says White. The Board has a lot of experience with the past directors however it is always exciting to add new directors as they bring fresh ideas.”

White says they will start meeting in June to prepare for the 58th Carnival.

“Carnival in Wonderland has so many opportunities in regards to decorations and costumes; we are looking forward to seeing the creativity that the community will come up with.”

The society is also thanking three directors who retired from the board.

“Kim Heizmann, Karla Zeigler and Karl Schoenberger were an intrical part of Carnival and will be sadly missed by the Board of Directors. Thank you so much for your years of dedication,” adds White.
