Mudslide Closes Highway 1 at Salmon Arm

A mudslide shut down the Trans Canada Highway in both directions between Salmon Arm and Sicamous last evening.
The slide happened last night between 8:30 and 9 o’clock about 8 kilometres east of the Canoe Mill.
Some Vehicles were stuck in the mud and emergency crews and tow trucks worked to get them out.
No injuries are reported.
Drive BC is unable to give an estimated time of opening, saying the highway remains closed while an assessment is underway.
The next update is expected about 10 this morning.
Traffic is being detoured via Highways 97A and 97B.
