Armstrong Emergency Program Progressing
The City of Armstrong is moving along seeking volunteers for its new Emergency Program.
Mayor Chris Pieper says they’ve already had 13 applicants at the first volunteer recruitment session
” Well, what we want is to have a group of volunteers prepared in case there is an emergency. That’s what this is all about. they will be trained if we have anything from fiorest fires to an emergency in town.”
As of January 1st each community in the North Okanagan agreed to set up their own programs.
” Actually the program we had with Vernon worked very well. We’ve taken on our own role and we’ll try to meet that standard.”
Pieper says having their own people in place will help to ensure quick response to any event that happens in or near the city
Another recruitment session is set for April 20th at the firehall from 6 to 8 pm.
