The Vernon and Kelowna stores will not be part of closures announced by the Payless ShoeSource chain.
In fact, no Canadian stores will be affected, according to a company spokesperson.
Payless Shoes has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, unable to keep pace with online competition.
The US based retailer says it will be immediately closing nearly 400 stores as part of the reorganization.
“We are not announcing any stores closings in Canada as a result of the filing,” says the company’s Meghan Spreer in an email to Kiss FM.
It has over 4,400 stores in more than 30 countries and was founded in 1956.
