‘Prime’ Motel Site Could be Sold

There is word a prime piece of Vernon real estate could be sold.

Several media reports say there is a tentative deal in place for selling the Green Valley Motel at the corner of Highway 97 and 25th Avenue.

The realtor involved isn’t commenting until the deal closes April 18th.

City Councillor Brian Quiring has no knowledge of the deal, but says a sale would be good news.

“I would love to see that site cleaned up. It’s basically the gateway to the city. On one end of the city, from the north, we have an auto wrecker, and at the other end, we’ve got a derelict old motel, so yes, I would love to see it cleaned up,” Quiring told Kiss FM.

Quiring says it’s a prime piece of property.

“It’s only a matter of time before someone realizes the value in it.”

The motel has been closed for several months, but before that, it was a low income complex, which generated numerous visits from the police.
