Vernon Job Fair Today
A total of 36 employers who are actively hiring workers will be participating in a job fair at the Vernon Lodge today (Thursday) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fair, organized by NexusBC Community Resource Centre, is an opportunity for anyone hoping to find full or part-time work to get permanent or seasonal jobs.
Lee Brinkman the Marketing Coordinator at Nexus says a wide variety of occupations will be represented.
“Manufacturing, customer service, cashier positions, office jobs, a little bit of everything. Some are seasonal and some are full-time permanent, so its a little bit of everything.”
“We have one interesting employer who hires for
positions on oil rigs and camps and things like that. They are in a support role in a number of different remote-type settings.”
People are advised to dress appropriately for a job interview and to bring resumes.
“They should also be prepared by having about a 30 second sales pitch about themselves. They should be prepared for the question ‘tell me a little bit about yourself.'”
