UPDATE: March 16, 2023 1:00 p.m.

Police say an elderly driver was treated for minor injuries after a small SUV crashed into an exterior wall at Vernon’s Canadian Tire store Wednesday afternoon.

RCMP Const. Chris Terleski said police received a report of a single vehicle collision at a business in the 4900-block of 27th Street around 4:30 p.m.

“Emergency personnel responded to the scene where an small SUV had driven into the exterior wall of a business at the location,” Terleski told Vernon Matters.

The 85-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries.

Mounties didn’t say what caused the crash, but say alcohol and drugs were not a factor, and no other injuries were reported.

The vehicle crashed through a wall at the north end of the building, near the auto service centre.

The recently re-opened Canadian Tire will be under repairs again, after an incident on Wednesday afternoon.

A gold coloured four door sport utility vehicle crashed through a wall into the auto service centre.

R.C.M.P. and B.C. Emergency Services personnel were dispatched to the scene.

An eyewitness tells Vernon Matters that an elderly woman was transported by ambulance from the scene.

The store had recently re-opened after a suspected arson fire caused extensive damage to the building.

Vernon Matters has reached out to R.C.M.P. for additional details.
