In Loving Memory of Delbert Douglas
Posted 14 hours ago

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad, Delbert Douglas, who passed away peacefully in Vernon, BC, on September 27, 2026, at the age of 86.
Delbert was born in Hespero, Alberta, on December 30, 1939. He spent his early years in Alberta before making his home in Vernon, BC.
Throughout his working life, Delbert was a hardworking and dependable man. He worked in the Alberta oil fields, hauling water and crude oil, he hauled logs for R. Hay & Sons in Armstrong, and later, hauled milk for Okanagan Dairy Transport in Vernon, until his retirement at the age of 58.
Delbert was a quiet man who never asked for much. He was content to simply take care of his family and do what needed to be done. He was a steady presence in the lives of those he loved, and his family always came first. He had a gentle way about him and didn’t need many words to show how much he cared.
Delbert had a wonderful appreciation for things from the past. He loved old cars and looking for antiques. He enjoyed reading and going for walks, and he especially enjoyed a good laugh. He liked to get together with his family for dinners and joke around while sharing those little moments that brought a smile to the people around him.
Delbert was predeceased by his longtime companion, Rosie Smithson, who shared the last 20+ years of his life with him, along with his father and mother, Harvey and Esther, and two sisters, Delphine and Deidre.
He is survived by his children, Darlene (Dave Lessard) Douglas and Dwayne (Donna) Douglas, and their mother, Patricia Douglas, with whom he shared an important chapter of his life with in the early years of his family life, his two brothers Daryl (Judy) Douglas, Dorval Douglas, his sister Diane (Art) Stewart and many nieces and nephews.
Delbert may not have been a man who asked for much, but he gave much through his hard work, his kindness, his humour, and the simple everyday ways he cared for those he loved.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest peacefully, Dad. You were loved, you were appreciated, and you will never be forgotten.
