Lightning Strike Near BX

A fire has sparked in the BX area due to lightning strikes earlier this evening. Reports are that fire trucks have been dispatched. The BC Wildfire Service says in a tweet that it is currently responding to 13 new wildfires in the Okangan and Similkameen area with ground crews, helicopters, and airtankers.

“Additional resources are on route to assist. At this time, there are no known threats to structures.”

They also say they are experiencing a high volume of calls about lightning and if you see new wildfire activity that you suspect has not yet been reported, please dial *5555 or 1-800-663-5555
