GVAC Working On Cultural Centre Use

Jul 13, 2018 | 9:23 AM

Only one proposal is left left on the table for a cultural facility in Vernon and that’s at the old Coldstream hotel site on 32nd Avenue.

Members of the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee met Thursday for an update.

GVAC chair Juliette Cunningham says more details are expected in the coming weeks.

“We’re still having meetings with the art gallery, the museum to streamline and finalize the actual space needs and how they’ll share common areas and that kind of thing.”

Some particulars need to worked out since some community groups will also be using space in the new building.

“We’re starting to drill down to the actual breaking up of the space for the different users and also agreeing on some of the common spaces and where those common spaces will be.”

During this year’s municipal election, voters will be asked to approve or reject plans to borrow 25-million-dollars to help with the 40-million dollar cost of the project.
