Vernon SAR Winch Team To The Rescue

Jun 25, 2018 | 9:36 AM

Vernon Search and Rescue’s Winch helicopter team was pressed into service yesterday afternoon to rescue a woman well up the King Edward Forest Service Road.

SAR’s Pete Wise picks up the story.

“Word was passed down to us that there was a lady in medical distress up on what they call the Teddy Bear Loop which is about 9 kilometres up off to the right of Kind Eddy Forest Service Road.We had four guys on quad teams and first aide etc.”

Wise there was no way the team could bring her out on a quad.

“She was quite a ways down the bank, about a 25 minute hike down the bank to get to her, so that’s why we called the helicopter.”

The helicopter team winched her to a waiting ambulance down the the service road.

She was doing fine when taken away.
